Feedback and Encouragement / Re: The Artist's Way
« on: January 04, 2019, 03:12:58 pm »
Update from me... I have been doing morning pages for a couple of weeks now (though I don't usually get to finish them first thing in the morning and I have missed a few days).

I have had 3 artist dates so far... once to a dance class, once to a restorative yoga class and once to a river but that one only lasted half an hour because the baby got sad and I had to go home.

I'm starting week one properly today and I'm going to do some of the tasks now.

Oh and when I did the 'imaginary lives' task a few weeks ago, one of my lives was a weaver and I have been doing some weaving. My friend taught me how to make a waikawa basket and I harvested some flax last night to make some more.

Hey guys,

I've decided to do The Artist's Way course, because it's been aaaages since I did it and I got lots out of it before. Does anyone want to join me? If you aren't familiar with it, it is a 12 week course for recovering your inner artist/writer/creator. All you need to do is have a copy of the book and follow the instructions inside.

Let me know if any of you are keen. If you are, we could do weekly check-ins here.

Happy holidays folks!

Rata  :)

So nice to read your reflections. I agree Agent24, it is quite overwhelming! I found it easier to follow the second time.

Thank you for posting the videos, so we can watch them again. I'm little bit obsessed with the 'conservative wife' one, and I want to write a response poem to it. I shall post it once I've written it.

Some many interesting and intriguing elements. Some of the images that have been bouncing around in my mind are:
the crow nibbling the taxidermy bear's nostril
the claw in the the garbage one
the astonishing (and yes anxiety inducing) architecture in the scientist one

What sort of film would you make Agent24?

And thank you for sharing your poem TSA1984. I especially like the last two lines. They are like a chorus somehow. I'm so glad to hear you are entering that competition!

And and thank you for your poem Serena! It gives me the sense of physical writer's blocks (like bricks or something) being stacked on top of each other.

I thought this might be of interest to you guys. A one line poetry contest:

How are you doing out there?

Yay for spirals!

I did a scribble today. I scribbled to music which sounded like a piano with a car crash inside it. It was quite fun trying to capture sound on the page.

I can imagine a wonderful 'self in puddle' photo series coming on.

I did a mini scribble yesterday

I plan to do a scribble each day (possibly some words among my scribbles), and to submit poems to two places for publication.

Great poem!! Thanks for sharing. I especially like the first stanza and the idea of the frame rate dropping when you're tired. I also like the link between "Go the dragons" and the smoke coming in and out of your nose.

Here is a competition for you all to enter:

Please do!

Hi folks!

Thanks for sharing your poem TSA1984! Please don't feel shy about posting as much as you want to. It will inspire the rest of us.

And thanks for the article Agent 24. I will have a read.

I sent my manuscript away!!!  ;D ;D ;D Happy.

Sorry I haven't posted anything. My one goal for the next two weeks is to finish the writer's CV and send away my manuscript before my 30th birthday next week.
I love the idea of an outdoor writing picnic. I have a full schedule of uni and step-children-ing for the next two weeks so I won't be able to come along, but I'd love to hear about it!
Happy writing or incubating, all  :)

Well, I have two big essays due tomorrow and I have suddenly developed a keen interest in learning how to make elaborate Indian curries. There are worse ways to procrastinate I suppose - my kitchen does smell really good.

I am still plodding along though, writing quite a few words every day. Looking forward to next week when I can start writing poetry again!

Yes, please post your poems here! I would like some inspiration.

I am back in computer-land and wrote around 300 words today on an essay.

I did not do any writing over Easter, not even in the sand. I also did not got near my computer or phone (very happy about this) but I did draw some pictures, slept on the beach for 3 nights, saw the sunrise and the moonrise over the water at the East Cape, and cuddled some horses which all make me happy.

Hi guys!
I have done no writing today, and I am about to go offline for Easter. I plan on doing some writing in the sand with my toe.
Have fun chatting with the Easter bunny etc.
