Feedback and Encouragement / Re: Italian Ingenuity

I certainly don't mind if people post their work - the more the merrier, right?

I'd post my own, except I don't have anything I'd consider worth it yet, right now. I did write a bit of stuff about the wind this morning, only 33 words, but it's better than I've done last week.

I made fun of myself yesterday for saying I was going to post everyday, then not. So, I guess the best I can do by way of a challenge or pledge is to recommit to that. Of course the important thing is that I write every day, posting every day just solidifies that commitment.

I won't be posting word counts, or anything like that. Defeats the purpose. For me, anyway. Poetry is about bite-sized chunks. You don't get demoralised if what you do is only small.

Would anyone mind if I posted what I write?

And outdoor writing sounds delightful. Weather permitting, of course.

Welcome back to the writer's weekly progress report, where we attempt to extricate ourselves from procrastination's stranglehold and the dazzling, shiny void of over-polished kitchens.

Post your updates and/or new words here, so we may all bask in the glory of each other's linguistic acrobatics - then join us back on the 30th for an 'English' spaghetti special :P

PS: I wonder if anyone would be interested in an outdoor writing adventure/picnic during the holidays?

I haven't done much either. Hopefully I can get back into it next week.
I made a "What are people reading" thread just now. Perhaps that will be interesting.

Edit: add this poem

fridge and laptop hum
mute electric symphony
can't hide death's silence

random song for this moment: Radiohead - Street Spirit

Discussion / Which book(s) are you currently reading?
« Last post by Agent24 on April 07, 2018, 07:58:45 PM »
I had an idea that we could have a thread where we post about which books we're reading, and we could inspire each other to read more!

So to start off: I've just finished reading Epiphany Jones by Michael Grothaus, and have now gone back to finishing off the eighth book in the Skulduggery Pleasant series, 'Last Stand of Dead Men", by Derek Landy. (actually, I've been cheating, it's an audiobook :P). I'm also trying to get my hands on a copy of the final book in the 'Hex' series; Ghosts by Rhiannon Lassiter.

What's everyone else reading?

A book review would be cool, I really struggle to read and never know what to start with either. Maybe you could post it in the Discussion board?

I haven't been doing any writing for the last few days. I just wrote 19 words now and hopefully will edit them later using the 'less than 25' rule. Hopefully they'll turn out a bit better than they currently are. I also really need to put together something for a submission but only have bits and pieces. Maybe some compiling is needed to see if anything fits together.

I wrote 209 words today, just some observations and stuff.

I finished reading Epiphany Jones. (Maybe we could have a book review/suggestions/etc area?)
It was pretty good, and definitely lives up to the dark side of dark humour. Although it does have a cliché plot device halfway through, and 4 typographical errors.

Well, I have two big essays due tomorrow and I have suddenly developed a keen interest in learning how to make elaborate Indian curries.
Haha! :D

"I can't possibly do that thing I'm supposed to be doing, because I'm already too busy being in the middle of doing this other thing now, and I can't abandon the currently ongoing process without losing the money/effort I've suddenly invested in it. Therefore, this new thing has now become immediately much more important than the thing I was supposed to be doing."

There are worse ways to procrastinate I suppose - my kitchen does smell really good.
I am still plodding along though, writing quite a few words every day. Looking forward to next week when I can start writing poetry again!

You can start writing poetry right now! Write a poem while your curry is cooking, so you can avoid your essays even more. :P Wait, don't listen to me, I think I need to bake some muffins...
